Can't really comment on a list, but if you are considering a group of ASME standards, I would recommend joining for the member discount. On one or two books it may not pay off, but their books are EXPENSIVE and they have a good member discount.

I have seen some of the other books on the market and I would still recommend getting the standards themselves. Some of the books out there have some pretty liberal interpretations of the standards and some have some half-cocked ideas as to how the standards should be applied. As far as what standards to get, i would recommend the following, but the very least you should get ASME Y14.5M and ASME Y14.100:

It has virtually every standard you need and it comes with a CD so you can install on a central server and have everything on your desktop.

Hey Guys,

Thanks for the suggestions. I do have the Machinery's Handbook and it is a great reference manual to have but by no means a set of standards.

I did some asking around my company and they use JSA/JIS standards in Taiwan....to some extent. Would you recommend we go with the same here in the US if all of our mfg is done in Taiwan and China?

Does anyone have recommendations as below with ASME but for JIS?

Also...I checked out IHS for purchasing standards. They have such a low level of information on their site on the standards, you have to know exactly what you want when you go there. They don't even tell you what comes in their "packs". Are there any other sites?
