Video Tutorials would be a nice addition.
I agree and it is something I am working on. I don't know if you are familiar with my modeling tutorial of the stapler in my blog but I am working on creating video versions of those tutorials. All the videos I make will be posted here, my blog and YouTube, so stay tuned!
Lookin forward to see how this site develops, has some great potential
Creating a site is hard work, but dedicating yourself to keeping it going is even harder.
Wish list item 1: Keep up the good work!
Oh believe me Chris... It is extremely difficult to keep sites going. It has become a full-time job between my blog and this site. It's a labor of love.
Tutorials on how to maintain your PC for getting best out of SW. General or basic stuffs like how to start working with SW.
How about some surfacing tutorials? I can never get the indent or deform feature to do what I want either. I guess I'm asking for tutorials on what I feel are some of the more advanced features of SW, or more complex SW tools.
I think one of the best ways to improve this site, which is great by the way, is to get more people on here for a greater range of replies to questions. And a larger variation of the actual uses of SolidWorks. And, now I see we just passed 50 members, hooray.
That's where you come in... I need you and everybody else here to spread the work about SolidWorks Geeks. When you post in other forums, talk to fellow users, or comment on a blog; mention swgeeks.com. Grab a badge and add it to your signatures. I am working hard to make the site grow but only you can make it bigger. :)
To expand on Deepak's suggestion a little, how about a spot to list good SW practices, for those newbies, with things listed like, start your first sketch centered on the origin around the reference planes, use fully defined sketches when possible, name your features so others can recognize them easier in the future...
I'd like to see some articles on the mold design tools in SolidWorks.
I've been using SW to design molds for 9 years now and I haven't been able to use them successfully or consistently.
I continue to use "work arounds" to seperate cores and cavities.
I have also talked with many other mold designers that are in the same situation.
What do you think?
