SolidWorks Geeks

Hi all,

I hope I can get some help from someone in this forum. I am working with an animaton of a boat where the water surface is simulated by a big flat part. I encounter two problems; 1. Parts of the "water surface" fades away when I save my avi files. 2. I've put water surface appearance on the surface wich should be blue. This surface however turns into a grey color??? I would appreciate a lot if anyone can help me out here!

Can you upload the avi so we can see it (or the sw files)?

Are you using the photoworks render option when you save your avi?
I've attached a small sample where you can see the sea dissapearing. I am not using photowork renderer since I got so much mirroring effects from all different surfaces when I used it. Is there a way to prevent this???

Thank you in advance!

I'm not going to be much help.

You've probably already tried playing with all of the rendering settings, fps, etc.?

As far as the color issue, I'm really not sure. Seems like the color you see in the SW window you should get in the render. You might try changing the color at the part or assembly level and see if you get any different results.
I had a call in to support and it ended up being passed on to solidworks as an issue with a large part that would cause smaller parts to disappear if the large part was not fully displayed on the screen. So when you zoomed in to see the smaller stuff it disappeared and this was also in the motion analysis plugin. The video of the rc truck is on my site but i had to be careful not to zoom the track too far off the screen. I used snagit to capture the screen instead of outputting an avi. I don't know if that's an option for you or if this can be fixed or is a genuine bug. Like Mark said I'd try applying colors to the parts or if that is what you did then maybe in the assembly, you could also try applying it to surfaces rather than parts or vice versa depending on what you have already tried.
