SolidWorks Geeks

I am working with a rather large assembly. Around 200 250 parts. I produce a drawing for our shop floor so the guys know what to do and also we use the drawing for inventory and pricing. I zoom in on certain area's of the assembly and ballon out the items and then add a bill of materials to that section. The problem I have is that I want the bill of materials table to only show the items I have in the balloons. Is there any way to do this without having to delete each row of the table to show only the parts I want.

One quick way might be to make a configuration in assembly and then create a BOM for that specific configuration

There seems as if there is a way to only show on the BOM table the balloons I have visible. I ballon out say 10 parts and when I insert the BOM all 108 parts show up and I have to hide all of the other 98 parts by hand. Making a configuration seems time consuming because wouldn't I have to exclude all of the parts I don't want from the BOM?

There can be several ways to do it.

1 Multi select the parts and set the property "Exclude from BOM". Create a display state in the assembly and hide the parts you don't want to show.

2. Multi select the parts and set them to suppress for a particular configuration. This way they don't show up in BOM and drawing.

thanks deepak. Thats some good advice like always. :)
