While complex flanges can be created, I'm pretty sure that one would be too complex. Even if you were to get it to work in sheet metal, I doubt it would flatten. It'd be interesting to see if it can be done though.

Interesting, Deepak. I wonder, though, how accurate the flat pattern is. It seems to me that the material in the folded state would be much thinner than in the flattened state due to stretching. Then there's the actual creation of the part. Would one actually start with a disc?

Yes it can be accomplished but there will be limitation in the height. The height will depend on the inner diameter.
I agree with you Jeff. Till modeling this part is OK but the flat pattern will be different than this (i.e. will have a bigger hole) And to add, in the folded state the thickness will vary too.
The other option might be to bend the L shaped profile, then this might be achievable with uniform thickness. What you say.
