SolidWorks Geeks

I work with complicated parts and the drawings can tend to get very busy. Sometimes I dont
always have the choice to add a LONG leader line just to place a note or section symbol or
dimensions outside of the part.

If there was a way to add a nontransparent text block around selected text so the part lines do not interfere with the text, I know my drawings would be a lot easier to make and a lot neater. At this point when i have views where multiple notes are on one part and they interfere with the part lines, I just export to ACAD and trim away the lines. And I don't want to do that anymore. I hate ACAD.

Surely i cant be the only one with this problem. Any one else wanna chime in? Any ideas? I attached a combined screen shot of the problem in solidworks and the fix in  autocad

No idea if dimension break will work for you. Other possibility might to color the box around the TEXT (this is just a bulb came up, not sure how or what this will do)
Its not the best way to do it and certainly not ideal but you can sketch your own boundaries and fill them using the fill/hatch command. You can then make that hatch a block. Ive never tried to do this with any production files because ive never needed to but it may be something to play with, it may work in your favor.
