SolidWorks Geeks Swag

Hi Everybody,

The other night when I was lying in bed cursing my insomnia, I had an idea that I wanted to run by ya'll. Would it be a good idea to come up with some swag for the SolidWorks Geeks? I was thinking along the lines of tee-shirts, polo shirts, hats, coffee mugs, etc.. I am proud of the community we have made together and I would love to express it to the world. It would also be a cool way to help spread the word to the masses. I would like to get your ideas. Maybe we can have a design contest and the winner could get free swag or something.

I was also thinking, all proceeds from the sale of the items can go to Design For The Future. If you haven't heard about my Design For The Future campaign check out http://www.theswgeek.com/design-for-the-future/

Lets get a discussion going on this. This is more your site then mine so I really want to get as many people as possible in the discussion.

Sounds like a fun idea! I'd probably at least pick up a coffee mug or polo shirt to show off at work; I already have too large a collection of free T's. Hats sound good too (though personally I'm not a hat person). I like the idea of using it to raise money for a good cause.

I'm trying to think of other items that would be useful specifically for SW users but all I've come up with so far is mousepad and Space Pilot Pro... =)

I agree with Mark....cool idea to work on....I will love to have a MUG.....though I'm a Hat man....so can pick that also....

The more I think about it, the more I like the idea but I really want to include the SWGeeks community in coming up with the details. I guess there are really two parts that need to be defined. The first is the design contest part. What would be a good way, in your opinion to hold the contest? I was thinking we can set a time limit, like 3 weeks for submissions of potential graphics from members( or non-memebrs too). Then we can have a week for everybody, including non-members, to vote on the design that will be used. I think it is a fair way to hold the contest and it would be a great way to gain new members.

Next, we will have to choose a company that will print the design on shirts, hats, mugs, etc. In the past, I used Cafepress but I wasn't too impressed with the quality but I did like how you can choose what you wanted to have the image printed on. I am sure there are a number of similar print-on-demand sites on the net. Does anybody know of a good site to check out? If not, does anybody have any contacts at a print house that might be willing to do the printing at cost?

Just throwing ideas out. Let's discuss this and see if we can come up with something good.
