SolidWorks Geeks

Hi all,

I need help.

I am an ex-Pro-E users/Intralink user, and started working with a company using SolidWorks.

Thanks to you, SolidWorks Bilble and other publications I'm able to use functionalities they never knew they had.

Here's the problem though.  We have Solid Works premiium, and I have been looking into implimenting PDM.

We are running off of a shared server, creating dedicated folders for each project, using pack and go, and copy save as as part of their established  "process".

Hardware is being downloaded from sights to each project folder creating hundreds of copies on the server. Each version is being pack and go'ed to a new folder for each vevision.and revision.

I have been striving to convince my manager (author of "the process") that it is critical that we impliment PDM as we are a growing company adding projects and users.

I have shown him documentation, earmarked books, e-mailed him links (including the upcoming webcasts). He said to quit sending e-mails.

Now we're experiencing crashes, lost relations, strange error messages...all kinds of havoc. This he believes is users not following "the process"

He has the idea that PDM use will cost us money, though I know that to control CAD data, we have everything we need except the willingness to inpliment it.

I have hit a wall with this guy.

Any suggestions?

K

With the Premium version you already have the PDM, so go tell him that you don't need to buy it.

And you can always approach your VAR for helping you out for a demo and try to convince your boss to give his some time for a demo.
