SolidWorks Geeks

I've been working in the structural field from time to time using AutoCAD. I'm fairly new to SolidWorks, and I think it rocks. I'd like to know how I go about drawing a piece of tubing (square, rectangular, or round) that is bent at an angle. In AutoCAD, this is very simple to do. I know the "sweeps" feature is used, but I'm stumped as to how this is accomplished in SolidWorks. Any suggestions?

Yes, sweep will be a tool to use here. Just make the path and the profile. And use sweep to make the solid/surface body. I'll attach few examples soon.

Attached is a quick example with multiple profiles.

Hello Deepak, and thank you for your prompt reply. I have made my path, but I'm having trouble with constructing my profile. I'm pretty sure the answer lies in selecting the proper plane. When I go to construct my square plane perpendicular to my path, it doesn't take. Am I forgetting something?

Check attached video. If this doesn't help, attach your part here.

Yes and that's why we love SolidWorks :)
Hello again, my friend Deepak. It's been a while since we've corresponded, and I hope all is well with you. I have a question regarding the "Circular Pattern" feature. For practice, I created a bushing-like object, and I'd like to add some tapped holes along the face of one end. I added one tap, and I need to add (7) more. I know I am to use the "Circular Pattern" feature, but I believe I'm doing something wrong, because I'm not getting it work. Please help!! I have attached an image of it. Thanks for your help.
Can you specify the steps you used for "Circular Pattern" or what error you getting.
Hey there. I just figured it out. I didn't select the right "plane". I have it now. Thanks for answerring. Enjoy the rest of your day!
Hello Deepak. Can you send me a video on how to correctly model a thread on a 5" X 1/2" diameter bar (cylinder)? Just something quick and simple. Thanks.

Check these two video on Youtube. You need to set the profile based on thread size and pitch.
