Certification says one thing, "I can use the software." It says nothing of your ability to make good designs of correct production drawings. However, employers who are looking for new hires will know that the certified person doesn't need to be taught the software. I have trained several individuals at my job with all levels of knowledge in SolidWorks. I know what to expect from the certified individual.
It's just a way of showing to the people that you know SolidWorks. It doesn't make you a good designer.Just a software knowledge and a little bit engineering vision.

If you are a CSWP, you are telling the peoplo that you can spend your time on the design fact, not in fighting with the software. That, a good reason to choose a CSWP above another one. Sorry for my bad English.
