Looking for PDM/PLM software with true ERP integration

I recently attended the Orange County SolidWorks User Group meeting where a guy from KeyTech software gave a presentation on PDM vs. PLM.   He had a good point that many PDM/PLM programs out there (like Enterprise PDM) claim to handle "items" which is ERP software speak for a part or object you track/manufacture/etc. using an ERP system like SAP or Oracle.  This is important to me because you could have a model in SolidWorks called AB12345 with its drawing AB12345 rev A.  And this model could…See More

ANSI thread representation on a drawing

I haven't been able to figure out how to make cylindrical feature with a cosmetic thread (or a fastener even) display per the traditional ANSI Y14.6 standard.  You know, long line, short line, long line, short line, etc...  See attachment.  I had to draw in the lines manually. Is there a setting or something to make SW do this? Thanks, HansSee More

Installing Workgroup PDM Standalone?

Does anyone have comprehensive "how-to" instructions for implementing Workgroup PDM on a single computer?   I cannot convince my boss to implement it, or Enterprise PDM either, until next year's budget.  However, I have a very complex assembly I will be working on that I know will have issues if I don't use a PDM system to manage it.  So as a stop-gap measure, I'd like to setup workgroup PDM on my own PC with the vault on my hard drive. Can someone please point me in the right direction?  I am…See More

"This is for migration. A partner and I are contract designing some sheetmetal assemblies (appliances). We made everything in SW2008 and now 2009. The customer was fully aware of this even though they are on CATIA V5R18. They will have to take our…"

Translating / Converting SW to CATIA - sheetmetal parts

I'd like to know if anyone here (or if you know someone) who has had direct experience translating sheetmetal models from SolidWorks (2008 or 2009) to CATIA (specifically V5R18)? I know there are direct translators available, but I'd like to know if they handle sheetmetal parts? Will they translate the feature tree, bends, flat pattern, etc.???Please provide the software title and version. If not, how have you, the design community, handled this situation? Thanks,HansSee More

Help needed with Summary Information (properties) & revision table on drawing sheet

I'm trying to figure out how to get the Summary Information (properties) from the model, to appear in the Summary Information of the drawing. I'm not talking about the linked values on the drawing sheet itself, just the info when you click, File>Properties. I want the model to fill in these cells as well. Is this possible? Also, when I insert a revision table onto a sheet. And save that as a Sheet Format, the next time I create a drawing using that sheet format, the rev. table is not there.…See More
