Oh, a kindred spirit. I'm a bit of a junky for 3D design myself. After 8-9 hours a day you'd thing I'd had enough. OH NO! Not me. I'm constantly expeimenting with the power of parametrics and exploring to find all of SolidWorks…

Karen though not sure but yes that can be one of the possibilities. SW might be trying to recognize a file to different file with the same name.

Could there be issues since most files a duplicated by pack and go, and save as copy?

Karen, there can be lot of reasons for it like how have applied the mates, dependencies of the part, assembly size, complexity of parts, etc. CADimensions, Inc. is conducting a free SolidWorks Webcast on "Mates and Mating Tools, Best…

With the Premium version you already have the PDM, so go tell him that you don't need to buy it. And you can always approach your VAR for helping you out for a demo and try to convince your boss to give his some time for a demo.

Yes it happens lot of time. Sometimes you will draw and unwanted small line/arc while sketching and that entity is so small that one tends to ignore/miss it untill it shows up in some error ;-)

Sketch contains an open loop?

Have you ever started to create a feature and gotten this error? It's a frustrating and drives me at times to recreate the sketch. Check Sketch can find it, but at times even the simplest geometry (like a split arc) cangenerate this error. I've found that editing the sketch, and using "select chain" somehow miraculouslymends the broken loop.See More

in that case since you know from the free body about what force it will take you could set up a motion simulation and place a force at the top with a linear ramp from 0lb to 5lb above what you think it will take. Then you could put and applied force…
