In assembly, edit the part in which you need that cut. Now go to Insert > Features > Cavity and select the other part whose portion you want to remove from the part. Click OK and you should be done. Hope this solves the issue.

3D cutting

I am using SolidWorks 2006. I need to do a 3D profile cut from the assembly. I seen it done once, but never needed it till now. I am using customer supplide parts, and need to build fixtures and machines around them. At this time I have a molded part, and I need to locate it. To do this I need a part profile transfered to the locators. How do you do this. I can not attch the files to large for my home connection. Thank you for your time.KenSee More
