Mark Treadwell replied to Thomas Blake's discussion 'Mating Washers'
You can lock down the washers by mating one of their planes (typically Front or Right) parallel to something else, like the flat of your nut or bolt.  Personally, I don't usually bother with it - just one more mate to fix when I replace…

Mark Treadwell replied to Julian Zapata's discussion 'Sending Solidworks file'

Mark Treadwell replied to Richard's discussion 'Double Nested Contours'
Not sure what version of SW you're using; in 2007, if I sketch a set of double nested contours (I played with a bulls-eye of three concentric circles), SW asks me to pick some stuff. I can pick the various regions enclosed by the contours and…

Mark Treadwell replied to Troteus's discussion 'Options settings / permanent changes?'
As you pointed out, the options you are setting are in the "Document Properties", not "System Options" - they apply only to the current document. In order to make them stay, you must adjust the settings in your template. -Mark

Mark Treadwell replied to Deepak Gupta's discussion 'solidWorks drawings- Posted by Benjamin Flores'
@Deepak: I'm not sure why you'd need a viewer - Windows should be able to view WMF natively (unless of course you aren't using Windows).

Mark Treadwell replied to Steve McLeod's discussion 'rotate a part drawing'
Assuming you're doing this in a drawing, not a model: Right click on the drawing view, zoom/pan/rotate, rotate view, 180deg.

Solidworks Custom Jewelry

Two and a half months ago, I proposed to my girlfriend Ellie. Since Solidworks played kind of a large part in the process, I thought I'd share the story; I hope you guys find it interesting.

As such a modern couple, we had already discussed marriage, but because I cling to tradition perhaps a little more than she would like, getting a ring and proposing was something I wanted to hold onto. We got a stone from her aunt, which was promised to her as the youngest grandchild. Since I… Continue
