Wire frame

Hi guys I'm back, if you recall I was using SW for sheet metal design only in the flat and with help along the way from you I think I have figured it out.My next journey is into the wire frame drawing portion and then that into a 2D drawing. But as you see the one 37.5" tube doesnt go all the…See More

This means you have different scale s for sheet and views. You can set the options while saving as DXF. Set the saveas type to DXF and then click on options in the save window to change the settings.

Once drawn I go to file> create drawing etc.   Another error I keep getting is when I save as dxf a message comes up : one or more drawing views are scaled differently from the sheet. Some dimensions translated from these drawings may appear…

Yes and that signifies you're in part mode.   Not sure why it's going write protected. BTW, how you're saving the files as DXF: Using File > Saveas > DXF OR Right click on flat pattern and then Exporting as DXF?

Ok thanks Ill try it.   Another question. I have my part drawn and I want to save as dxf, but in the bottom corner it says editing part should it say that? It allows me to save as a dxf but when I go to open it in ACAd it says its write…

Set up a template for Sheet metal and choose that as your starting file. You can even include some features in that part template.

Solidworks 2011

Back again. Just as I was getting the hang of SW 2005 I decided to upgrade to 2011. Im sure once I get the hang of it, it will be a great upgrade. But til then it looks like chinese to me. The way I used to go about business in SW2005 was I go new>3D part> sheet metal> then draw. The setup doesnt look the same in 2011 any ideas on how to get it setup again this way? All my programs I draw as flats, any suggestions of easy ways to do them? I then save as dxf and bring into cadkey for…See More

Steve if you see ~$ in front of the file name, then assume it is a temporary file that gets created when you open you files and they get removed once you the files. Moving back to your issue, as Mark stated we'll need you to post the actual…

Can't open your part file, almost looks like you uploaded the temp file SW creates when you are working with a part file.

Need to add 1/16th of an inch to centre...

When I add it the part goes all out of shape. What is it that I'm doing wrong?

You can rotate the view as suggested by Mark or even can create a new vie with changed orientation.

Assuming you're doing this in a drawing, not a model: Right click on the drawing view, zoom/pan/rotate, rotate view, 180deg.
