Deepak Gupta Deleting a Row from General Table

This question came up on the SolidWorks Forums today and after answering it I thought of sharing it up.

You have inserted a General table in the SolidWorks drawing and accidentally added one extra Row. Now you want to get rid of that line. As usual you’ll right click on the specific Row you want to remove from the table
and clicked on the Delete.

Nathan Garrett Reverse Engineering is not just for hackers anymore

Reverse Engineering from laser scanning data is a growing trend, but few engineers have been happy with the output. We need to learn what to ask for, and educate the laser scanning companies on what we really want. SolidWorks parametric models from laser scanning data is a reality. Design intent is possible, not just dimensions in sketches, odd-ball dimensions, and imported bodies Check out the ins and outs on Reverse Engineering, share stories (Success and Horror). Deepak Gupta How to animate simple Spur Gear in SolidWorks

In this post I will discuss about a simple animation of Spur Gears. I have used SW2009 for the tutorial but lower version can be used to perform this activity. You can use any cylindrical part for the animation. I have used spur gear to make the animation more realistic. 1. Start SolidWorks and go to Tools > Add-Ins. Make sure Toolbox/Toolbox browser is checked. If not then check them to add.

Mark Treadwell Solidworks Custom Jewelry

Two and a half months ago, I proposed to my girlfriend Ellie. Since Solidworks played kind of a large part in the process, I thought I'd share the story; I hope you guys find it interesting. As such a modern couple, we had already discussed marriage, but because I cling to tradition perhaps a little more than she would like, getting a ring and proposing was something I wanted to hold onto. We got a stone from her aunt, which was promised to her as the youngest grandchild. Since I wasn't going t… Continue

Jeff Sweeney Templates as starter parts

A SolidWorks template file is nothing more than a file to help you get started. So often people only have two template files -one for inches and another for millimeters...but it can contain anything you like...including geometry! If you find that you often start a part the same way, why don't you make a start part and save it as a template? I have two templates I use all the time: 1. A cylinder that I use for parts to be turned 2. A plate centered on the origin (actually I have two of these, o… Continue
