If you are a reader of The SolidWorks Geek blog then, by now, you have heard about my campaign to raise money for Orangewood Children’s Foundation. The campaign,
Design For The Future, is very important to me since I was a former resident of the Orangewood Children’s Home. When I started the campaign, I figured it would not be terribly difficult to raise $5000 for such a good cause but the U.S. economy had different ideas. So now, I have to find other ways to raise money for the kids in hopes that we can help.
Last week, I had an idea that I feel would be a great way to raise money, at the same time, allow members of the SolidWorks Geeks community a chance to sport some cool swag. Two Words…. Design Contest! For the month of May, we will be holding a design contest for graphics that will then be used to create swag for the site. Once the swag is available for sale, ALL profits made will be added to the funds raised by the Design For The Future campaign. Everybody wins, you get to show your love for the SolidWorks Geeks site with some cool swag and also get the warm feeling knowing that your purchase is helping victims of child abuse.
So how is this going to work?
The contest is open to all members of SolidWorks Geeks. You can submit as many images as you want to be considered for the contest by uploading the image onto the photo album for your profile. In order for the image to be considered for voting, the description must be prefixed with “DFTF-“. All eligible images will be placed into the Voting Album found here:
http://www.swgeeks.com/photo/albums/design-for-the-future-design and members will then be able to comment on the image and rate it. On June 1st, 2009; the entry with the highest rating will be declared the winning image and it will be used for coffee mugs, t-shirts, mouse pads, hats, etc..
So what do I win?
The winner of the design contest will receive one of each of the items put up for sale and $50 dollars,in their name, will be donated to the Orangewood Children’s Foundation. So start working on those ideas, the sooner you get your entry uploaded the more time you have for voting.
